K-12 Yearly Curricula

Our homeschooling is evolving, yet again, in an unexpected direction.

Our period of deschooling seems to be over - at least, for the time being - and, we're heading into a time of integrating more formal work into our unschooling lifestyle.

This formal work will be limited to basic English skills (in the younger years), classical languages, Maths and literature to allow for in-depth learning. We'll use a one-on-one mentoring approach and I'll study alongside the children.

The rest of our homeschooling will be interest-led, applying the unschooling principles that have sparked the creativity and enthusiasm of our recent learning. Good literature and read alouds will form a large part of the curriculum.

I've streamlined our old plans to give me a clear idea of our goals and our potential resources, and, also, to identify priorities between the structured and informal components of our schooling. As far as the classical subjects go, the children will learn at their own pace, so the grade levels are merely a loose guide. With the unstructured learning, the books and activities serve as suggestions and/or desired goals, rather than formal checklists.
